| The Del Rendon Foundation First of all we start by thanking so many people for your
endless support during the struggle to breathe during Dels absence.
You have been strong and we hope your pain has lessened. And in the pain,
there is comfort everywhere. Especially among the stories written, spoken,
sung, dreamed, and thought about Del. Tears are shed when the stories
are told but the heart also mends just a little. One continuous thought
comes to most when Del is remembered. God I am so lucky to have known
him, to love him and be with him. His passion for life was immense and
was expressed by his love for art and music. Fortunately for those that
Del left behind, his passion is written in his music and splattered on
the canvas. Stories jotted in the books and images painted on the walls.
Live performances and conversations etched into our minds. You only have
to look in the mirror to see Dels passions for there is no doubt
that to know him was to be affected by him. There is growing comfort in
taking in what Del left behind. As Dels music and art continues to be appreciated
by growing numbers of folks, the family looks for ways to enhance and
encourage that growth. Many individuals have already embraced this concept
on their own and we are grateful. Recently we signed an agreement with
The Mississippi State University Foundation to establish an MSU Art scholarship
in Dels name. We have also established a website, Delrendon.org,
in order to focus our efforts online. The goal of raising $25,000 was determined by the minimum
amount required to perpetuate a scholarship at MSU and although it is
a high mountain to climb we are hopeful that we can reach our goal by
May 2006! Currently we are working on becoming a charitable organization
that will allow us to conduct fundraisers and grant tax deductible contributions.
In the meantime, we ask that all donations are provided directly to the
MSU Foundation at the following address: One Hunter Henry Blvd. Again thank you for your continued support! Andrew, Martin, Eddie, and Christy |
